About
Welcome to Silver Hellebore Jewellery, I’m Lise and I make all the jewellery that you can see on this site. Having always had a passion for jewellery and having fallen in love with Silversmithing, this new chapter for me brings together an exciting opportunity to be creative, produce beautiful objects and leave a legacy that can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Using 925 sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones my designs are influenced by the textures and landscapes around my studio in North Wales. Using various techniques including hammering, rolling, etching and folding, the play of light on my pieces is a key design principle and everything is made by hand.
Inspired by hills, plants and trees & rock formations, many of my designs are influenced by an ever-growing interest in our ancient landscapes & the way human’s respond to a sense of place.
Sustainability
Being sustainable wherever possible is important to me and I use only recycled silver which I use in my designs, this means that the silver has been reclaimed, refined & reused from existing sources such as extracted from x-rays rather than newly mined silver. I also recycle every scrap of silver used in my designs, reusing it to form new designs and reduce waste. My gems are only bought from reputable sources where the provenance of the gems is known.
Hallmark
An exciting part of my journey is having my own maker’s mark connecting your piece with a long history of British craftmanship, meaning too that pieces can be traced back to my studio. All my jewellery complies with UK hallmarking regulations and if an item is over 7.78 grams in Silver, it is stamped.
My own registered hallmark is LSR, which stands for Lise Sophy Roberts, which is displayed in a Shamrock, reflecting my previous career as a landscape architect & ecologist! It’s been officially registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office, and it’s one of the ways you know your jewellery was made by me & that it is being sold accurately with the correct purity of the metal. I send pieces off to be tested and marked — they come back with those small and meaningful symbols that show its Silver, registered in Edinburgh (shown by a castle mark) , made in Britain, and crafted by hand.
